I chose to add the jessie repo and because I originally had this same prob
on the 1.3x version that came with this distro, but I can certainly
uninstall, remove the repo and reinstall back to 1.3x but I think I'm
finding the source of my issue.

xelatex. I have no paths.pm file in the perl5/latex/driver and the
Driver.pm file is only running the paths set at installation. Is this a
distro issue or a latex version issue?
