Confidence won't go, the players, just like us, know that some v. important players are missing at the moment, plus the away trip to forest was, on paper, the most difficult game this season.
Naylor was NOT dropped midweek, he was rested, and that's not a euphemism. He spent a long time out injured, did not get a full pre-season by a long chalk, is old and had played a couple of days earlier. Of course, Bruce came in and helped towards a clean sheet, which is what you want with competition for places so may well retain his place. Anyway, I don't think a result is as difficult as expected before, not least because forest are weaker than they were last year at the moment. Having said that, we could lose but I for one don't put any importance on the result. I don't think anyone on the list had us down for automatic promotion and to get into the playoffs we only need to put a run together after xmas - we have a few months where we can easily absorb a few crap results, and if the playoffs are our ultimate ambition then away defeats are accepted, its results at home that matter, and even those won't matter until we have Paynter, Gradel, Snoddy and to some extent Somma back. That's when we'll get a truer idea of how we are going to go this season. Not forgetting the money that is burning a hole in the transfer budget that we could call upon by the end of the month or in Jan.
