He is doing OK at the moment and is playing better than I thought he would be
able to , I did not think he would be any use in this Division but he has
proved me wrong so far. I was talking to a ST holder in Reive bar pre game on
Wed and he said that he thought BJ was our best midfielder, so it is true that
he divides opinion.
Grayson picks him week in week out,and whenever he has been left out he has
always got back in so the manager obviously rates him- perhaps he is one of the
unsung heroes who other players appreciate but most fans don't a la Hopkin.
For me he is often a disappointment - he wins lots in the air but often to no
effect, his shooting is mainly wayard (Wed excepted), has no acceleration , and
often picks the wrong pass or misplaces it. Having said that he can be
effective at times and I am not sure if he will be easy to replace
I see that Thomas Kirwin says he is staying partly because of a lack of
interest from other clubs and partly becasue we will not  suffer much
financially with him only having till end of the season on his contract and it
would cost a lot to replace him.
So I suppose I am in two minds about him - will get behind him 100% if he stays
(did not like the boos and greedy chants the other week - why did fans believe
and support Bates over him ??) but I will not care too much when he leaves
Dave

But what do Johnson's critics think? Richard Walker (;)) - especially as you
see more of him than the odd televised cameo - do we hope to keep him or get
rid?
