Having just seen the highlights again on LUTV I think that Becchio just about got a touch to his goal, did really well with a header that the keeper put onto the post before that, and did mean to lay it off to Somma, albeit that the ball went a lot higher into the air than he wanted. What a great strike it was by Somma who waited for it to come down and volleyed it home - how many of those end with the striker getting under it/ hitting it too soon and blasting it over the bar Paynter was really unlucky in that it was a great one two with him and Somma (may be a partnership in the making?) and he shot well enough - had he fallen over or fluffed it altogether we may have been awarded a penalty since he was being pulled back by his shirt. Grayson does have a bit of a problem - Somma clearly deserves to get a lot more time on the pitch given his unbelievable scoring record, and yesterday he proved again there is more to his game than just scoring - his 1 2 with Paynter and a great run down the wing to name a couple BUT our midfield and defence is much better, given the players we have, when we have 3 centre midfielders. This means we can only have one striker on the pitch, and Becchio for all his many faults does play this role well. His energy and nuisance value are much better than anyone elses. He has scored a decent number for someone on his own and his link up / nuisance value has allowed the two wingers especially to help us to be one of the highest scorers in the division. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Whether SG will change things for Barnsley either because they are not as good as Norwich or just to use the squad and get fresh legs on we will soon see. To me both Sam and Watt have looked the part when they have played, and both Paynter and McCormack are just that one debut goal from being good for us in my opinion. Whether Sat was a point gained or two dropped will depend on how many points we can get on Tuesday and then away at Swansea - both hard games but both winnable Dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman-new.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected]
