I do think Grayson has a dilemma when it comes to midfield because Johnson is limited but effective at times, Kilkenny is the only one who can pick a pass yet hasn't really got the legs for 90 minutes and Howson looks almost like a striker- put him deeper and he seems incapable of playing that holding role.
If we're going to play 4-5-1 I'd play with Somma as the lone striker. He'd create even more space for the wingers, would create and score more goals and link up play more effectively. I think he would add an extra dimension to the team. I'm still not convinced though that we need the lump that is Bradley Johnson in midfield. If we went 4-4-2 then I'd drop Johnson and play Kilkenny (holding) and Howson in the 4 with Somma and Paynter or MccCormack. I think there's a lot more to come from Billy Paynter. I think he's big and strong with good feet and decent in the air. I also think Sam has been unlucky - he's a damn good player. Becchio wouldn't get on my bench and I'm not joking.
