Got to see the match - been 2 years - still not lost a game at ER when i have
watched em live. Differing opinions on a few here in list on Connolly, gave
away too many free kicks for my liking and I thought Clayton and Howson were
quiet, Snodgrass played well for once. I like our newest Finn playing at 7,
made a few crunching tackles when he came on - got a rise from the West stand.
Becchio i agree did nothing but the crowd love him, mostly, would like to see
Forsell get a longer go at it too, Aidy White has so much pace we need to use
him more. McCormack was busy but looking to fallover a fair bit too. Keogh was
quiet and missed a good chance, didnt seem to want it bad enough with a scuffed
shot in the box, Pugh looked useful and busy. Keeper did a good job again but
this game should have been over at half time, we let them run things in 2nd
half and a few shocking defensive errors to allow basic opportunitis for
Portsmouth. They were poor to be fair and we deserved to win b
ut by 2 or 3 realistically. Defence was Ok today but still too many mistakes,
if we can keep up the first half performance this season we are in with a
shout. Let's build on this and keep the momentum, some crazy results this
weekend, this league is wide open. January onwards will be interesting. Took my
Palace mate to the game, she loved it. Crowd was a wee bit quiet - guess a lot
of people were at BBQ's - no Pompei support at all from what i could see or
hear - it was a bit weird. Was interested to note that the few that called for
'stand up if you hate Ken Bates' got bugger all response - interesting. Don't
get many chances at a match report and this isn't one so be gentle with my
opinions. Had a guy behind me came from South Africa for the game - 11,000
miles between us, nice to get a win. 36 quid for a ticket but a decent pie. MOT
