Why is he suddenly a better defender ? Because he's had more games , pure and
simple , nothing to do with Pugh who is average at best. Do you remember Danny
Pugh first time around - scored a few goals but generally he was poor. It pains
me when people say things like , he's solid , he helps White etc. Max was
hardly a defender but he got up and down the pitch and together they were
dynamite (West Ham away being the best to date). We're looking for something
similar and Sam is the nearest thing in my opinion. Not for solid, average,
pedestrian, plays like he's shit is pants - that's the sort of player that has
lost us umpteen play off matches and will get us nowhere. (Becchio is another
such player).

and as for the Grayson knows more than you and has more coaching badges than
you , haven't we covered that one before. Venebles picked Mcpahil over Dacourt
and Batty ... nuff said.

Not by the accounts I remember he wasn’t.

I thought the majority view of White was, great going forward, suspect at the
back – even from Oldham fans.

He has vastly improved defensively recently, and seems to be getting forward as
much.  I put this down to the fact Pugh can sit in and cover him.

I believe White is a better defender, and freer to attack with Pugh at LM vs
Sam.  But anyhow, the point was that football management isn’t as simple as
saying “player A is more skilfull than player B” or whatever – even in football
management games players have a myriad of attributes, and being a football
manager is finding the correct blend of attributes – finding a balance –
finding a team which works/engenders a certain style of play.

I don’t think you understand that principle, I do understand it but cannot
begin to understand how to apply that to a professional football team because I
haven’t got coaching badges, haven’t got years of experience as a player and
manager, haven’t got a team of coaches around me helping me out, and I don’t
see the players all week in training – working on systems of play which might
better demonstrate the other attributes they might have.

Do you remember the Doncaster game last year when he was man of the match ? He
should have been given a run instead he was dropped and then shipped out to
Oldham, where he was a star by all accounts.

I deduce from that that Aidy White is a bloody good playes who is getting
better and better every game. He was playing well before Pugh came , nowt to do
with Pugh at all. Sam would be much better. Pugh doesn't do owt. Pedestrian
beyond belief - he was the same in his first spell if you remember.

and Becchio is shit ... unbelievably shit.

Rich mate, at the end of the day I think Grayson is a better football
manager than you.

I can see why managers like Becchio.

Just as I can see why simply replacing Pugh with Sam won't just be a
positive influence on the side.  You seem to be one for extrapolating, so
let me chuck this one in - White seems to be having more and more influence
over the last few weeks or so, when playing with Pugh.  What might you
deduce from that?  (Apart from Becchio is shit)

I still can't get my head round people who think he's the answer? Anyone
notice the Berbatov chant isn't as loud these days. Penny finally dropping ?
