Only if you stay away because the product is poor can he use this excuse. If it is made clear that people are staying away as a protest against Bates and for the well-being of the club, then that excuse does not work. It would look like this tremendous sacrifice that the fans are making to save their club. You would have to get a significant number - preferably everyone to stay away for at least two games for the effect to be felt. As you pointed out, 2 million a game will make a huge dent in his pocket. Does anyone on this list who attends games regularly think it could be done?
