Before anyone gets to reading signs of an imminent apocalypse in the
entrails of this result, a few words from someone who actually attended the
game - not that there were many of us, 19 thousand or so, looks like Mr
Bates is reaping his reward.

For the first 60 minutes or so this was the best Leeds have played (at
home) for a couple of months, way better than the Ipswich game for example.
We were coherent as a team, chased and closed down well - for the most part
- and looked to string passes together, into feet, moving to make space for
team mates. The back five looked solid - relatively untroubled - the
midfield of Delph and Clayton looked like they had been introduced at last
- Delph looked closer to match fitness than on his first appearance -
Snodgrass was head and shoulders above the other 21 on the pitch...and
McCormack looked lively - his well taken goal seizing on a defensive error
on the edge of the box proof of that. People were reasonably content at
half time.

I can't remember whether it waat 1-0 or 1-1, but Becchio had a good header
very well saved by their keeper, twisting back on himself to palm it around
the post...things could have been different...but then they found their
range with their 6ft 8 Serbian Peter Crouch and we had no answer to that. A
really good team would have cut off the supply of crosses - we're not a
really good team, but in this league, we're not a bad team either...we're a
middling team, who with some investment and foresight could have moved up a
gear, but now we won't.

Once the 3rd and 4th went in, our energy and confidence collapsed and the
game was over and the fans booed.

"Can't wait til February we'll see the emergency loans"

Still, it is a royal pain in the arse to lose 1-4 at home to anyone.
