All this talk of money and where it goes, brings me to several points.
Realistically, how can the Premier League continue to operate unless there is some major shakeup....i.e. some form of equality for the league's teams. Write down on paper the attendance figures for the 20 teams.......and write down each team's payroll if its available. How in hell can a club like Wigan ever expect to win the league championship....never mind more than 50% of the others.....and down into the Championship, how can most of the clubs ever expect to get 1) to the Premier League, and then 2) expect to stay there for very long, unless some sugar-daddy comes along and blows one huge wad of cash. Not too many sugar-daddies around these days.
Rangers, one of basically two Scottish clubs in recent memory who win the league title.....now in administration, but even with the ten points taken away, remain in second place. That says a lot for the other ten teams in the SPL doesn't it.
In my view, the only way there would be any equality in football in the EPL and the FA.....is a salary cap. The top five or six in the PL would be screaming bloody murder, particularly Man U. How could they dominate if they couldn't buy allegedly the best players....and lord it over all the rest like they have.
It's worked in many other sports....maybe its about time for football.....different salary caps for the various levels. Yes? No?
