Pre match I would have been happy with a deserved point . Post match we got a
point and we deserved it, so am I happy? No, not at all ! My main feeling is
one of disappointment and a touch of deja vu!
It was not a great game by any stretch but it was enthralling contest and was a
hard fought battle.
There were few real clear cut chances,
We matched one of the best teams in the Division and every single player gave
their all in a very committed performance , so why am I not happy ? Well in a
game that had 0-0 written all over it from early on, we managed to take the
lead with a few minutes to go, when Becchio did what Becchio does, a header
from a yard out into an empty net, being the first to re-act as the ball came
back off the bar. All we had to do then, is to do what we had done so well for
the previous 88 mins or whatever - defend properly and keep them out. Instead ,
we turned back into the team of McAllister and late Grayson and let them
equalise from a straight forward corner into the box ! To be fair one of out
players was on the floor at the time - a push maybe ?-and my mates and fans
around me were happier than I am, but it just seemed as if our old faults had
come back.
Alcohol has wiped indiviual bits of action from my mind but I do remember
Lonnergan tipping one over the bar and Green pulling off a great save at the
other end (my mate said it was a good height for the keeper) as chances were at
a real premium. The bit of action I remember most involved new boy Robinson He
went flying into a tackle and, I thought, won the ball fair and square - the
ref disagreed and gave a foul and booked him.Within the space of a minute he
made 2 bone crunching tackles  to break up a move of theirs - top quality
commitment and great defending/

So all in all , a bit of a disappointment result wise and a dent in our slim
play off chances  but a day when a full house were teated to a totally
committed and hard working performance - roll on Tuesday v Forest and lets hope
the returning thousands saw enough to persuade them to come back for that one.
