First single was Satisfaction by Otis Redding, me and our Steve played
it to death.

First LP was Safe as Milk, The Captain! but after that everything went
haywaire as witnessed by my heaving loft with it's Vallance and Davidson
sized collection of LPs.

First Gig was in April 67 with The Walker Brothers, Englebert
Humperdink, Cat Stevens, Jimi Hendrix and the back up bands for the

Best Gig has to be The 'Oooo at Leeds Uni in early 1970, I love the
Deluxe CD reissue of this gig. It catches Magic Bus exactly as I
remember it. Special

Wierdest gig must be watching the recording of John Martyn "Live At
Leeds" from the mobile sound truck which was parked outside the Riley
Smith Hall at Leeds Uni. Only to find out later that the released
version was mainly recorded in London, now rectified with the 2010
release which includes the complete Leeds gig (Thanks McGeoch ye tosspot)
No film of the Leeds gig so enjoy this:

I have seen hundreds of gigs over the years and I have a massive music
collection but nothing pleases me more than finding something new or
something I missed years ago. I'm 58 now but I still get excited when I
hear that WEM hum just before someone plugs in.
Just this week I came across Simone Felice, he's touring as we speak but
check out this free download of a track off his new eponymous album:

My spewing North over twenty years ago also brought me into contact with
a pile of rather fabulous Scottish musicians. If you have never heard
Michael Marra or the more recent Manran then do so. Here's a wee bitty
Michael:
