Well Ian, it would be the the last time that Leeds played against a team that included someone who had a black/arabic player with a foreign sounding name...because there is a wanker who has stood behind us (a couple of rows back) for about 6 or 7 seasons who yells at anyone who falls into this category - "fuck off back where you come from you fucking asylum seeker...you fake refugee bastard"...sometimes throwing other things into the mix...
he also likes the Welsh "fucking sheep shagging bastards"; on the subject of Brighton he can be quite varied, "fucking gay/shirt-lifting/homo bastards" and funny enough he hated Jermaine Beckford...can't think why, but he came very close to outing himself on that score a few times, cos he was obliviously "a fucking lazy....bastard" (all of this is said with real eye-popping vitriol - this twat is not joking) Now you may ask what have we done about it - well me and the mate I go to games with are not shy at coming forward - and we've both at face-offs with this dickwad and that usually shuts him up for a game and a half...but what really pisses me off is he stands less than 10 yards from where the stewards + security regularly gather - and no-one has ever spoken to him that I know of, and yet they have to have heard him. So, yeah, some of it gets over played these days - and things like "we can see you holding hands" is funny - but like anything else it depends on how your doing it and in what context - that is not the kind of thing that some homophobic twat is likely to say just as they start stomping on someone they believe to be gay...now is it. So let's not all run around pretending it doesn't happen, and let's not all run around pretending it is as bad as the 80s (fucking Thatcher, that was probably her fault as well...in fact it was, but I digress)...neither of those scenarios is correct. It is some where in between, because society is somewhere in between. Ask any of your BME friends, your gay friends or even the women in your lives "isn't it great now that we've got rid of discrimination, eh?" - go on, they could do with a laugh, it is a Friday evening after all...
