I only skimmed the piece and didn't realise he'd been given specific
permission to only talk to Everton.
In principle though, if a manager walks out mid contract and joins another
club, is compensation due? Anyone?

Subject: RE: [LU] NON LU: Martinez Compensation
I read Martinez has resigned from Wigan with a year remaining on his
contract. Whelan claims compensation will be in order when he joins
another
club, is this so considering he walked out of Wigan who allowed him to
leave?
From my understanding, Wigan have only allowed him to talk to Everton, he
hasn't been sacked or resigned. If Everton and Martinez agree terms then
they will need to pay off the last year of his contract.
