Actually it's the season after next that is going to sound the death knell
for Championship teams getting promoted.

The premier league money is effectively doubling next year 2016-17, so any
teams relegated in 2017 will be so rich that even with paying premier league
wages they'll be able to keep most of their players, plus invest and buy
themselves promotion, so I expect those that come down will pretty much
always go back up again straightaway thanks to money made in that season and
the larger parachute payments. Since teams in the Championship are
restricted by the FFP rules,  in effect for most teams next season will be
the last chance to get promoted.
