Pretty sad that our second win in twelve gets zero comment so far...this tells you an awful lot.
The game was poor, the teams were poor, most of the players were poor, the referee and the sub-21000 crowd were poor. The "atmosphere" was a shocker. I knew about pre match demos, the only indication I got was when the anti Italian knob head usually behind us was noticeably absent, once Silvestri made a cracking save after 10 minutes or so. Then we learned he was outside at "the demo". Best place for him. Started with Wootton not even on the bench. Coyle at RBack. Muzzy, Antenucci and Doukara forming some kind of forward force... Coyle did perfectly well, linking a few times going forward before being dropped a hospital ball (by Antenucci?) which he went for gamely and got properly clattered. Off he went after about 25 minutes. Berardi coming on for him and almost immediately going in the book...unluckily so. A corner swung over approaching half time, Cooper got the header, flicked down and Mirco, flicked into the top corner from 4 yards out...cute finish. Second half and Bamba on for Cooper (presumably injured)...lots more hopeless huff and puff, then a break away down our left and Antenucci tries to cross from just inside the box, it is going nowhere, a defender blocks it slightly out, but more or less back to Mirco, he turns back and hits it first time, right foot, 15 yards out and curls it into the far corner. 2-0, we're deservedly ahead...can we hold it...just about. 20 minutes of furious defending (good last ditch defending) against a truly woeful team that should never have got anywhere near a draw... Hard work but 3 points. Not many played well...Antenucci of course, did his bit; Bellusci probably the other good performance. Their 7, Feeney was MOTM by a mile...absolutely everywhere...
