Well, I couldn't let my first visit to ER in a while pass without a bit of a report so here goes.
Dave N seems to have encapsulated all the major incidents in the game, so I'll just give my take. I thought Preston could easily have been ahead before Roofe's goal, which looked a bit fortunate to me. Good move, but was it a deflection or a rebound back off Roofe that caused the ball to balloon over the keeper? There was a bizarre non-goal that Wood put away only to be flagged offside after the Ref had a chat with the Lino. I guess the crux was whether Roofe had made contact with a flick-on, which the Linesman had to confirm with the ref before putting his flag up. Hernandez's goal looked to me as though he was trying to round the keeper and slipped, but the ball just rolled in before anyone got to it, rather than being an intended shot. I've not seen the video footage, and the screen was not much help in bright sunlight from the opposite corner. Anyway some scores. Green 8 - Some important saves, no hiccups, clean sheet. Ayling 7 - almost an 8 Bartley 7- ditto Jansson 7- ditto Berardi 8 - Best I've ever seen him play. Vieira 6 - Adequate, but I'd love to see him threaten the opposition more Phillips 7 - Didn't miss Bridcutt much. Roofe 7 - Deserved his luck in front of goal. Hernandez 7 - Would like to see him pass the ball earlier on occasions Pedraza 6 Wood 6 Subs Doukara (For Wood) - 6 Well taken goal, but only seems to come alive at certain moments when he transforms into Linford Christie. Dallas (for Roofe) - Couple of good runs/passes, but looked out of place in the Hernandez role after the last change Taylor (For Hernandez)- Not really on long enough. Cheers.
