TC seems very reluctant to give any info about injured players, but from what i
have read both Berardi and Pennington should be back in training and possibly
available for the Burton game. Ekuban has a more long term injury having had
(or needing) an operation on a broken bone in his footO'Kane is another concern
- he has pulled out of Irish squad with a recurrence of his groin injury - the
one that cost him his place last season.
Given the strength in depth that we now seem to have , we should be OK - Cooper
has worked miracles and will probably keep Pennington out of the team (he may
even have been preferred over him from the start, given that he was made
captain) Anita has done  a great job as back up for Berardi and made sure he
has not been missed (plus we have Borthwick-Jackson)
O'Kane -if he is out for a while- will be replace either by Vieira, whom many
of us think is the best of the four defence midfielders, or Klich who should be
good once he is fully fit, or even by Anita, so gain, whilst a blow not a
serious one

As we are constantly being reminded, it is a long hard season, with scope for
lots of injuries, suspensions and loss of form / tiredness and so is more and
more a squad game rather than a team game
Will the first XI below and the 'reserves' I have listed it appears that we
have cover for every position and no one player (unlike Wood last year) is
irreplaceable (as long as Longeran is still up to the job if called upon)

Looks good on paper. Of course, three of those players are already injured.
Cheers!

Subject to Lasogga signing as expected and no last minute ins or outs this is
the squad that we hope will take us to the top, or near the top, of the table
by the time the January window opensGK - Wiedwald , Longeran, Peacock
FarrellDefenders Cooper, Jansson, Pennington, Shaunessey, Ayling, Berardi,
Borthwick-Jackson, AnitaMidfield Phillips, O'Kane, Klitch, Vieira, Siaz,
Alisoki, Sacko, Dallas, Hernandez, Strikers, Lasogga, Roofe, Cibicki, Ekuban,
GrotLots of different nationalities there and lots of players who can fit into
more than one of the 3 normal catagories - eg Anita can be midfield as can
Roofe, Grot and maybe CibickiGiven the way TC has started the season the
starting XI with cover in brackets looks like this (some players in more than
one position and this is TC's likely choice not necessarily what i would go
with As a 4 2 3 1 ( again I can see this being fluid in different games etc,
but it is what TC has done so far)Weidwald (Longeran)Ayling  (Berardi, Anita)
Cooper  Jansson   (Pennington, Shaunessey, Ayling)         Berardi
(Anita, Borthwick-Jackson)Phillips                        O'Kane  (Klich,
Vieira, Anita )Alioski         Saiz    Hernandez     (Grot, Dallas, Sacko,
Roofe, Cibicki)Lasogga                (Ekuban, Roofe, Grot, Cibicki)In addition
we have Gomes and a number of other foreign imports in the u23 team who may
make a break through and maybe , but more unlikely Stokes who played in LC)If
Saiz and Alioski can keep it up for the season (oh er missus) and the new lads,
Grot, Cibicki, Lasogga, and of course Klich are anything like Orta and his
scouts are expecting that is a fairly strong squad with lots of movement, pace
and interchange available and decent cover for every position  - against this
we have lost Green Taylor, Bartley, Bridcutt and Wood,I do believe that things
are looking bright (of course all this could change once I have seen some of
them actually play football !!)-
