Be interesting tonight. After Millwall, which I reckon may have come as
a (in the long term, hopefully useful) shock to TC, classic 'up and at
em' British footy, think The Crazy Gang beating Culture Club! I'm going
to watch how he sets them up tonight. Cardiff will push and really come
at us, with 25,000 pissed Welshies behind them, it'll be (So far this
season) the biggest test of character for him and the squad I reckon.
One of the lads who works for me is a big Cardiff fan and we've had a
bit of banter (of course) leading up to it. But he is, typically,
absolutely obsessed by our visit ... admitting himself, more so than any
other game. He does accept though, that this is a HUGE weakness as it
puts the emphasis on US and not them! It's like when we ever played Man
U, a lot of Leeds supporters get manically obsessed about "Beating the
Scum" - WE need to drop that and focus on ourselves. No use living in
the past, as it stands Man U mean nowt to me, and will continue to mean
sweet FA until we're in the same league, at which point I'll want us to
beat them as much as I'll want us to beat Bournemouth or Stoke etc. It
may well work on that one occasion (I'd settle for a draw tonight TBH)
but it won't do you any favours over a season.
BIG games are great, there will be a cracking atmosphere tonight (Sadly
only 2700 for us, but we know they'll do their part) and a 'cauldron'
type atmosphere is one of the truly great things about footy. Allied to
a half decent opposition team, on the up, with an ex manager in charge
and 'up for it' - this is a great test. If we move the ball at pace and
push, taking Forest type control of the game (The same result would be
nice) then I may just nudge up my excitement level to mildly giddy!!! :)
