I don't have too much of a problem with the salute. But the badge is awful - like an MLS badge, or a kids' team.
But, someone put it quite eloquently on Twitter - saying that the salute is an unspoken thing between Leeds fans. Like a masonic handshake or whatever. If you know about it, you know about it. Putting it out there on the badge smacks of something wrong... commercialism maybe. Whatever.
