Lurkdom mode - OFF. Once we abandoned the City of Leeds badge, sometime in the 1960's I think, we then seemed to change our badge every other year. It wasn't until the "rose and ball" one - the one we won the 1992 Championship with - that we settled down to some season after season continuity. It lasted a good few seasons, long enough, I thought, to establish itself as our "new" traditional badge. I'd love for that one to return. I never took to Ridsdale's living the (European) dream replacement.
The current proposal? Supposedly it's for our 100th anniversary. I could buy into it, if it was only for the one season, and perhaps if the hand on the chest was a hand over our traditional badge... whatever that is. If it mobilises support and enthusiasm and helps us get back to the top level in time for our 100th year, then maybe we should endorse it. Doesn't sound as if it will though. Celebrating the Leeds salute? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have the uncomfortable feeling that it started appearing when the NF were trying to take over our terraces at the end of the 1970s So for me it's bit too close to a Nazi salute to be totally at ease with it. Finally, a question on the 100th anniversary that I've been meaning to ask. Didn't Ken Bates' shenanigans kill off the 1919 club? Isn't the club we're supporting now some new creation of his, barely 10 years old?
