I watched Phillips very carefully during watching the replay I had saved of the Swansea game. He was doing perfectly fine for the first 15 mins. In fact, I would say he played well. But then for 10 minutes everything he did went wrong. And worse he seemed not to be tracking back when he did lose the ball. I think maybe this was what MB saw that he didn’t like. I think he is demanding 100% effort and no excuses: If you don’t want to give 100%, then get off the pitch.
