Kodi on a Firestick works well - and is cheap I've got a couple set up for permanent use and one to take on hols if required. And gave one to my brother (who lives in Carcassonne nowadays) last Christmas which is still working well without any maintenance after a year. Plus, you get the usual apps (such as Netflix) in a handy format, if prepared to stump up a few quid per month.
Takes someone knowledgeable to set them up, but easy enough to use (assuming you think Kodi is easy to use - I can't get my wife to get the hang of it).
