If Bielsa stays, then hopefully we can have a better crack at Automatic (because our record in knockout/cup football is ludicrously bad except for a purple patch 20 years ago) but promotion is more difficult every year:
Unless teams coming down are basket cases, they are generally better, unless they have to offload players (West Brom) – Fulham might struggle. Cardiff, you’d imagine, would be organised enough and stable to be pushing like Sheff Utd. Plus like Billy Sharp, Warnock is one of those people that was a bit crap for us but much better elsewhere. I can’t quite work out if we have any money (for transfers) – the bench was piss weak last night. Can we fend off the inevitable enquiries for the obviously above average players we have like Roofe and Phillips? Harrison will presumably go back to City, so there is a like for like replacement required, unless Alioski plays there but then left back is weak (problem all season defensively). Cooper and Pontus whilst obviously trying their best are not quite good enough week in week out consistly. They all have a red card or stupid challenge waiting in them. The cover is poor or non-existent. Hernandez is too old to be consistent. His legs have gone. We never replaced Saiz and whether we could is immaterial. He was good cover for Pablo and vice versa. Bamford has some really nice touches but always seems to need to take one too many. I know we paid decent money for him but he feels like a luxury – maybe he needs a strike partner? Roofe seems to play better on his own and doesn’t seem to turn to dust when he plays out wide. The ‘Keeper had an absolute mare yesterday, he was lucky not to concede 2-3 more. What he thought he was doing is beyond me. Come if you’re coming and FUCKING GET RID OF IT. Don’t come and fuck about with it outside the box where you can’t use your hands. He was causing total panic. The thought of this current team (mainly last season’s bang average one) in the Premier League is a bit scary. Be nice if Shackleton and Clarke etc. could develop and play more, as they look pretty good to me (in spells) I hope either FLD get pumped by Villa and we beat them home and away again, on the way to automatic promotion, or they go up and get destroyed in the PL and Frank gets sacked by Easter. I know we’re a semi big fish in a small pond but everyone seems to raise their game when we play them and take the spite, niggle and extra preparation to the next level. Particularly this season. Tinpot players, clubs and managers giving it Jonny big bananas. There were some bizarre ref decisions yesterday but I’ve come to expect that. You make your own luck. Disappointing but not unexpected. We have another ‘derby’ next season don’t we? Barnsley? I thought he was shite - couldn’t find a white shirt to save his life. I was boring the missus with ‘has Dallas ever had a better game for Leeds’ etc. I doubt it! I reckon he’s too old for another crack anyway, as is Cooper maybe. Bamford simply dies not have the required mentality to play for us.
