It’s all very frustrating. I’ve watched their goal and the Harrison and
Bamford misses back on Twitter and it doesn’t make good watching.Kiko’s
starting position is poor and he takes a couple of steps forward, realises the
ball is going over him but can’t get back and inexplicably tries to punch the
ball instead of palming it over. I’ve defended him in the past but he’s cost us
again today having been t fault for Wednesday’s first. Time to give Meslier a
go?The Harrison miss is incredible. 3 yards out at most and just needing a
touch, it looks like he tries to control it past the keeper but over hits it
which takes it past the post.Bamford’s one was awful too. It’s all very well
cupping your ears to the crowd after scoring a couple of tap ins, but he’s no
natural finisher. I’ve watched it back a few times and I still can’t figure out
how he managed to clear the ball towards the edge of the area from about 8
yards out.The game was horribly similar to last year. Lots of possession, lots
of crosses but very little clear cut chances. It’s easy to blame the players
putting in the crosses- Costa, Harrison, Ayling, Dallas or Alioski and
certainly some of the crosses were poor. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dallas
pick out a Leeds player with a cross and two of Alioski’s landed in the
crowd. It’s difficult though to pick people out in a crowded box when there’s
not much movement. I think back to some of the goals Roofe scored last year
when he runs across defenders to the front post and gave himself a tap in -
Derby at home was one and there were others. I don’t see Bamford or anyone else
on the pitch doing that the majority of the time. Hopefully Kev will be able to
do that.As Dave said, two massive games coming up, three if you count Bristol
City the week after.

This time yesterday I was buzzing, walking round the house humming and singing

but this is as bad as I have been since, well, Wigan last season
Of the 46 league games we had to play this season if I had to put my house on
winning one particular game, it would have been Wigan at home as revenge for
ruining our hopes last time
Whilst not quite carrying on from where we left off v Millwall, we did start
brightly, getting at them and creating chances. Harrison had a brilliant
dribbling run in the box beating half their team but his shot hit the post.
Unlucky, but this was followed by 2 awful misses. A lovely cut back fell to
Bamford, all he had to do was put it on target, but somehow he contrived to
miss the ball altogether with a horrendous air shot. Then Harrison ran along
their goal line but somehow failed to bother to put it in but instead ran it
past the post where he then back heeled it , very odd ( I need to see it again
on tv). Then Dallas and Alioski both blasted shots over the bar as we ended the
half 0 0
Anyone who has been following us under Bielsa will not have had to know the
score to know what happened next when I say , we should have been 2 or 3 up but
it was still 0 0 when they got a corner!
This one was beyond bizarre though as the ball hit Pablo , our first man,
ballooned into the air , got caught in the swirling wind and was somehow missed
on the line by Kiko. A fluke of the highest order, but the tosser who 'scored'
ran the width of the pitch and had a diving celebration as if he had meant it.
The ineffectual ref let them celebrate as if it they had all the time in the
world.
From then on there was an air of predictable inevitability about the game,as we
huffed and puffed to little effect as they defended like we used to under Monk,
and coupled that with general time wasting and shit- housery. The ref stopping
the game for injuries that were neither head injuries nor serious!
The crowd grew more and more restless as Bamford had a free header saved and
Harrison and Bamford (?) had efforts cleared off the line, although in truth
that sounds more dramatic than it was.
Tyler Roberts came on and did ok but the fans wanted little Ian to see if he is
magic, and even more BigKev to give that boost and maybe even the goal we
needed. But Bielsa being Beilsa refused to bring Poveda on and couldn't bring
Augustin on since he was not even on the bench!
So we fell to yet another unwarranted and needless home defeat against a shit
team who fluked a goal and then defended manfully. It could have been worse as
twice our gung-ho attitude let them have great breakaways but White saved us
both times
It was a disgruntled crowd that left ER and I heard the following players
abused and told they were shit and / or should never play again- Bamford,
Costa, Harrison, Pablo, Kiko and Ayling
Also and perhaps for the first time (Toe excepted) I heard genuine criticism of
Beilsa and his stubborn attitude. We all understand the 'process' and that
players have to be Bielsa fit and in tune with our game but his reluctance to
give the new players a chance was heavily criticised. With 7 subs, 2 of whom
had no real chance of being called upon, why was there not space for Augustin?
Plus how long does Poveda need to wait before he can be trusted for 10 or
15mins? Minutes when his supposed skill and unpredictability could have
unlocked their defence? Will this criticism and the inevitable questioning by
the press make him more likely to dig his heels in and do the same next week?
We now do genuinely have 2 games that will define our season, 2 must win or at
least must not lose games. We are capable of winning both but only if we take
our chances and defend corners
So all in all a miserable day out
