Thanks for pointing me at that article John, It kind of explains why it seemed 
so sudden to me.  I had not heard that Wigan were in excessive financial 
trouble, and it seems that nobody else had either.

It appears that whilst they were living beyond their means, they were not doing 
so more than any other Championship Club.
Yes we all know the penalty for Administration, but it seems a bit poor for the 
EFL to approve a takeover one week, then the club goes into Administration the 
next.

We all know their tests are not up to much, but the Guardian found out pretty 
quickly that one individual owned over 50% in both companies in the previous 
sale of the club.  Surely that should ring a bell or 2.

In reality, anyone buying a club should have to prove/pledge/put aside enough 
money to buy the club, clear its debts and operate it for a year at the current 
rate of loss.  This fund could be monitored by an independent authority.

Anyway, tough on Wigan, but we’ve been there!
