I first met Guy over 50 years ago in Harrogate when we were both involved in the Young Liberals. I was about 16 and I don't actually know how old Guy was, he always seemed to be older and more worldly than me. Guy was living with Ruth on the outskirts of Leeds and I distinctly remember spending the night on their floor after partaking of some illegal substance. Guy, Andrew Keogh (also sadly departed) and I would stand in the kop for some memorable matches and we would also meet up in Birmingham when I was at University there. Guy and I were at Molineux together in 1972 when we only needed a draw to win the double but lost 2-1, but a better time was with him for our 7-0 win over Southampton.
As I moved first to Reading, then to the USA our meetings were far more sporadic, but for many years we would get together at a pub in Harrogate or in London over Christmas. It has been several years since I last saw him, and our contact was mainly through this list, but I always thought that there would be one more time.
