Given where we were and the direction of travel then Marsch so far has got them doing what is needed. Yes, we’ve played poor teams, have been unconvincing at times, and have had some uncharacteristic good fortune, but we’re still in with a decent chance of surviving, although I still think there is plenty of opportunity to stuff it up too.
No-one will ever know if Marcello could have kept us up - it didn’t look likely to me. I haven’t yet missed the 4/5-0 drubbings, but perhaps there is one coming soon? I did read in this thread about our passing ‘method’ having changed to long ball etc, but we did plenty of that under MB - it just looked more successful as Bamford chased everything. I do miss the Bielsa magic - it was some kind of mad fairytale journey, but that’s over. I don’t see us as being like Burnley as Rich said, scratching around for survival - 49ers money, whether we like it or not, is going to change things. Presumably a playmaker like Aronson is still a probability, and there’ll be plenty of comings and goings. Good to see Norwich beat Burnley though - going down would be complete disaster!
