I am 100% behind Jesse but I agree that Bielsa transcended football and made
what happened both on and off the field different and made us special
.**Ultimately he wasn't. Football is a competitive team game. We were not
competing and no longer a team.# from the first game v stoke we were
magnificent and played a type of football never seen at ER and a real
sportsmanship - special n my view
We are now just any mid table team ( though with a more fanatical old school
fan base) - expect more time wasting , taking the ball to the corner flag ,
play acting and arguing with refs and opponents- expect 70 mins of the ball in
play not aiming for 90mins - all things that may help us amass points but
things we all hate when the other side do it.
* Completely unfair. We are in transition. Sometine that can take a season or
two. After half a dozen games you can only praise.# OK time will tell but
nothing Jesse has said and done before or since coming to ER suggests he wont
allow / encourage the " dark arts" if the state of the game supports it. Not
sure " you can only praise " - remember villa ? Or wolves before sending off ?
Ok 10 pts from a possible 18 is good but 6 v bottom two
Back to normal football and not the magic (albeit sometimes tragic ) Bielsaball
* We played some stinkers too# hence the " tragic " reference
I have just totally revamped my front room and my Bielsa statue has been given
a prominent place - he will always have my affection in a way no other manager
ever has or ever will?
* Again, give the guy time and don't set the bar impossibly high# I have gone
to virtually every home game and hundreds away and abroad since 1974 - so 31
full time managers - loved what Revie , Wilko, Grayson and ( early) o' Leary
did but none have anything like the respect I have for Bielsa- nothing to
suggest Jesse will hit that height.
Special times
Would he have kept us up - who knows but with games v Norwich and Watford and
the return of players I do believe he would have , but academic now.
* Strange where you don't know you proclaim doubt. But otherwise where there is
doubt you proclaim.# not a clue what you mean - I think MB would have kept us
up but of course I dont know the unknowable
Up to Jesse to keep us up ( looking very possible now) and to build us for the
future and maybe challenge for a cup or a Europa league place? The king has
gone , long live the king
***Dave, a man is judged by what he leaves after him. Great men often stand on
the shoulders of Giants.# again dont know what you are saying ? Beilsa was a
giant , I hope Jesse will take us further the football pyramid
Dave
*** We were a runaway train coming off the tracks. Marsch did the right thing
at the right time. Remember Napoleon demanded one attribute amongst all others
from his Generals....luck.# got lucky v wolves - his other success was due to
fixture list ( Norwich and wolves) - Leicester a bit unlucky, saints and villa
we got what we deserved, one point
