I remember Simon Walton getting a red card, unusual for a friendly, last time
we played them, well things were evened up when one of theirs got a red card
for 2 yellows. He was very late on Bogle then had a go at Amps when he
objected,  given a  yellow,  then another for a late trip on Firpo. However
rather than the red card this will be remembered for a sublime goal from
Georgie and the day we found out that ( hopefully) Joseph is the real deal
I had a shit view 2 rows from the front behind the goal so it was hard to see
any real patterns of play etc, however it was a joy to watch Georgies twinking
feet and huge smile close up. He is worth the entrance fee on his own and if he
can add goals rather than misses to his repertoire he will more than make up
for Summerville. Whilst you cant read much ,if anything,  into pre season games
he has scored 2 goals so, fingers croseed,  he will find the back of the net
much more this time. His goal was amazing he picked the ball up, put a defender
on his arse, then chipped both the keeper and the 2 defenders on the line - top
quality
Someone else who has been scoring all pre season is Matteo Joseph and his goal
today showed all his qualities- strength,  awareness,  composure and the
ability to find the net ,a real top strikers goal
Ampadu restored to midfield gave us a range of forward pasees that we never
really got last season
So all in all a fun day in the sun with an almost full house ( only the away
section was empty) given as 32,000. The new yellow smiley badge shirt was very
much a feature with perhaps one in every 4 fans wearing one , and it does look
good .
I finished the day with my first vist to the peacock in years and i was
surprised to se the huge marquee with big screen tvs all round the place. Lots
of families and kids enjoying their day in the sun.
The real thing starts next week but so far so good on the pitch at least (
wober especially and aaranson both got theur names booed when the players were
announced  but i did not hear anything when they actually came on the pitch,
Wober looked solid enough and aaronson did one great bit of skill - not quite
the old cliche of " like 2 new signings " but they can do a job if they stay.
Onwards and upwards
Dave
