Thanks Kev. I didn’t go but watched on tv. I heard the boos for Wober and Aaronson from the brain dead. Yes, I’m not totally happy they’re back given the only reason why is that no other fucker wants them but fact is they’re here and I think can be decent players at this level. Let’s give them a chance. Never understood the boo boys - totally 100% counter productive!

At 66 ys old, this was my first ever Elland Rd friendly. Apart from the actual action the main thing that hit me was how poor the information is, if you can't see the big screen from where you are sat. I was in the top of the East Stand and there was not even a visible time clock. The tannoy was unintelligble. Could just about make out names of Leeds players, but I have no idea who played for Valencia. A trawl round various websites just before kick off, and even at half time found nothing either. So I can only identify the Valencia players by number. Valencia were trying to play a counter attacking game in the first half, but they seemed to forget the attacking bit, and conceding 2 goals also messed that up. Only the bloke on the right wing showed any initiative, but they did sent their stall out with a number of 'off the ball' fouls. A number of Leeds passes went astray, but we certainly deserved the lead when Joseph finished well after good work from Firpo and and a nice little through ball from Georgi. Georgi's goal looked a bit lucky from my standpoint in real time, as it looked like he spurned a good shooting chance to make it into a difficult one. A 2nd look showed it to be a sublime finish!! Anyway, Valencia came out meaning business for the 2nd half and if anything upped their fouling. Eventually the no 11 went too far and got his 2nd booking. To be truthful the ref was quite lenient, this being a friendly. His earlier push in the face of Ampadu, was way worse than Meslier's straight red at Preston. Their no 9 was even more lucky to stay on, with a display of niggling fouls, petulance and over-reacting throughout. Eventually he was withdrawn, probably under pressure from the ref, and 10 man Valencia, began to show how good they could be. A whole raft of substitutions, which I couldn't keep track of, happened, and Leeds began to lack a bit of shape and purpose. I heard quite a bit of booing when Wober and Aaronson came on, but I guess it was a good idea to get that out of people's systems in this game. It was good to see Bamford on the pitch and Crew and Debayo both got a few minutes to sample the atmosphere, and looked comfortable. The late, deflected goal for Valencia did not ruin the day. All in all, the starting XI did enough to keep their places for next week. Looking comfortable against better players than they will face every week in the Championship. However, the bench looks a bit thin, and we need to make 4 or 5 signings to bolster numbers in various areas to cope with the 50+ games in all competitions.
