So, it all starts again.
This year, only the top 2 will suffice. The huge reduction in parachute
payment for year 3 in the Championship would financially reduce Leeds to a
run-of-the-mill side at this level when compared to the teams who would
come down.

Am I optimistic? Well not entirely. Leeds have never borne the mantle of
favourites well. The current first XI look good, but I have serious doubts
about the transfer team getting in the 3 players they admit to needing, let
alone replacing anyone else who leaves in the next three weeks.

Today's probable squad looks good on paper, and it helps that for the first
time in years, we are injury free. But 2 or 3 injuries would expose the
lack of numbers, which will be needed later in the season.
Looking at Jonathan Rowe, he appears to be a right footed winger, who like
Gnonto prefers to play on the left. I'd really like them to be looking at
a left footed winger, who could come in from the right, or provide a 'going
outside' option on the left side.

Still a good start today will help, and it will be interesting to see just
how much Summerville is missed.
