First game, we didn’t lose, as I thought we were going to, thanks to Aaronson, but Aaronson’s miss made the draw feel like a defeat! That said, it was good to see his run into the box and create the chance!
So many similarities with last season - ok, only 1 game in, so no need for panic, but until either our existing squad ‘learn’ how to finish chances, or we buy someone who knows how to do it, this is Groundhog Saturday forever! Joseph looks ok, but he’s no Aiden Butterworth even, let alone Alan Smith! Piroe looks ponderous, despite a couple of good passes, whilst Bamford was desperate to do something but realistically his best days must be behind him? We just have no-one who challenges in the penalty box! Or challenge effectively/quickly. I thought Bogle looked pretty good at first, until suddenly he wasn’t where he should have been, twice, and they scored. I have no idea where Firpo was playing today? Finally, Sky’s pundit Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, was really f***ing annoying. Not because she is female, but I’d go a long way to avoid listening to that clap-trap again. Mute was on for the 2nd half!
