Two goals,  a clean sheet, 3 points and back top of the league, what a
wonderful night, except it wasn't really it was all a bit underwhelming again.
I'm not sure what's wrong but fans, including myself, who should be buzzing are
all a bit 'meh'
After a good win there is usually singing on the way out and even outside the
ground and a general hum of excitement,  but it was lacking again last night.
People almost trudged to the bus stop muttering ,almost as if we had lost.
I don't know what more the team or Farke can do , two comfortable victories in
4 days with the opposition conjuring up the grand total of one shot on target (
Norwich had none last night). There is just something lacking -ok it's not
Bielsaball , what else is?- but we have scored lots more goals than anyone else
(53 now I think ) we play some lovely stuff on occasion and we are solid at the
back.  It's not even that promotion is a foregone conclusion - it clearly isn't
with 4 teams fighting for 2 spots, but for some reason the crowd just aren't
buying into it
As for the game , we had the dream start, too many games have had us huffing
and puffing to break the opposition down, this time it was instant ( thankfully
I got to my place just as the whistle went )
They passed back to the keeper, he hoofed it right up and it ended in the hands
of Meslier- he threw it out and then the much maligned Aaronsson played a
lovely one two with Bogle and ran down the wing before playing a lovely ball to
James who took a touch and played an early cross onto the 6yd box where any
good striker should be, on this occasion it was Solomon,  and the striker duty
obliged
Not much happened after that,  the ref got card happy for a bit, right until
the last minute when a brilliant cross ball from Tanaka was volleyed superbly
goalwards by Bogle but the keeper saved.
Second half was much the same,  they did nothing, Piroe had a shot blocked ( to
join one in the first half) Bogle had another long range shot blocked  and
Tanaka was a bit lucky to escape a second yellow but was subbed just in case.
Then on the hour game over, Firpo crossed the ball was fired into the box and
looped up highland wide, instead of letting it go out the defender headed it
back into play straight to Solomon whose cross was met well by James who hit
home.
More subs were made and Ramazani nearly repeated his heroics from Sunday with a
thunderblaster from the edge of the box but the keeper saved.
The whistle went, we cheered - the end
Roll on Monday and a  ( difficult) chance to put daylight between us and 3rd
place
Dave
