Or the "391 Millwall " as other's have dubbed it,  for those who don't know 391
was the number of fans they brought - absolutely pathetic.
Even worse there were probably 391 police on duty for this " high risk" match.
I even asked one of the police on the way out what his Millwall fan was called
, assuming they were given one each to look after .
As to the game it was a real stroll and normal service has been restored as we
totally dominated from start to finish , there only 2 threatening bits were a
free header from a corner in the first half and a cross that Mes flapped round
the post. Like their fans they were pathetic and it was an easy, albeit nervy,
win
The ref left his cards at home, as foul after foul brought the " that's a
yellow " from the crowd but nothing from the ref.
Last night summed up how strange football  can be , Sunday we played poorly and
deservedly lost but created 4 clear cut easy chances, last night we played
well, totally hammered them yet did not create a single easy chance bar the (
wrongly) disallowed goal by Piroe a great move and finish
Our first goal was a cross that took a wicked deflection, the second a belter
by Tanaka, who was back to his best. Other than that it was a few long range
efforts and mad scrambles in the box .
Luckily the eary goal had mainly settled nerves and fron that 4th minute we
always felt like we would win, however until we got the second in the 85th
minute we just had that little voice of concern saying what if they score from
a corner.
So overall a comfortable night and with us playing first on Saturday morning we
can really put the pressure on the chasing pair, to do so we need to beat our
London hoodoo, our early kick off hoodoo and our abject performance at QPR last
season which totally derailed us. However we know we are the best team in
this division,  we just need to go and prove it.
For me Rothwell must start,  I get the Gruev brings defensive solidity argument
but Rothwell offers so much more and really makes us tick.Tanaka and Solomon
were back on form yesterday,  and a special shout out to Brenda - he, rightly
so, gets a lot of stick but yesterday he showed what he brings to the team and
why DF picks him, he was proper Duracell bunny last night, he was here there
and everywhere,  at the heart of everything we did  ( just watch the  extended
highlights on LUTV and count how many times he is mentioned) Yes he messes up a
lot and yes he is very limited as a footballer but in nights like this his non
stop running makes up for his deficiencies.
So back to the top with a bit of a gap, 9 games to go and all of them winnable
on paper, let's go out and win on the grass, starting Saturday morning
Feeling good again
Dave
