Back subbed after my hols in China (yes a very nice time thank you, and thanks for asking).
So I missed the passing of Blackie. To me it still has Curbs written all over it. The whole wait and implication we still won't appoint anyone for a week or so suggests we are either (a) after someone who won't become available for another couple of weeks (Curbs) or (b) are seriously considering saving cash by giving the money to the cheap in-house options (Carver). Good coach Carver may be, but Curbs is the manager with the track record. No competition for me. The other questions this raises of course is why Curbs is sticking so dogmatically to this no job until after mid-Oct line. Either (a) he had some contractual agreement with Charlton he will not take a job before this time (would be odd and arguably pretty much unenforceable) (b) he has outside pressures (such as family) not to take a job before this time or (c) he is holding out for any other jobs that may come up (such as Man City if Pearce gets sacked). From a job perspective would seem more sensible for him to get to helm of Leeds now and have 2 weeks to work with squad rather than waiting 2 weeks and being straight back into thick of it. Get the appointment right and I still think we'll make the play-offs. Here's hoping! Now I have been a salesman for over 30 years and if that's not a "buying signal" (as in come and get me...) then nothing is - anyone else think the same? ******* This message and any attachment are confidential and may be privileged or otherwise protected from disclosure.
