Oh and just to complete the questions Briggsy came up with ... The line
out needs scrapping if Union is to become more exciting. Take away any
potential benefit of kicking for touch and they won't do it, simple as. If
the governing body had any balls they'd come up with something along the
lines of, if you kick it in to touch then it's the oppositions ball ...
from where it was kicked. Scrumdown.
I'm with you part of the way.? I think that making it the opposition's ball at
the spot it goes into touch -- not a line out but ball in hand -- would do
enough to adjust the balance.?
Actually, I think if your rule changes were made it might actually make the
game less exciting by turning it into no more than equivalent of the old
American Football "three yards and a cloud of dust" mentality...
