Weekly Study Group - Leon Trotsky's Transitional Program for Socialist
Revolution.
Russian revolutionary leader, Leon Trotsky wrote the Transitional Program
in 1938. It has as much to teach contemporary activists for radical change
as it did socialists on the eve of World War Two. The key question Trotsky
deals with in the Transitional Program is how to bridge the gap between the
overripe historical conditions and the relative weakness of revolutionary
working class leadership. Sixty years on, this gap is still a critical
obstacle to lasting social change. According to Trotsky, the solution to
the problem is to mobilise people by raising demands which address their
immediate needs while exposing the root cause of misery =8B the inability
of capitalism to fulfill those needs. If you also hunger for a better world
and want to discuss ways to build one, join us for a lively discussion.
Participants will study Trotsky's classic work, and contemporary documents
which apply the approach he advocated, including socialist electoral
platforms and the Radical Women Manifesto.
