CENTRELINK & THE OLYMPICS
Centrelink staff in Sydney have been instructed to advise unemployed people
in the surrounding region that 'if they don't get a job during the
Olympics, they never will' & to rigorously enforce job placement and
breaching penalty quotas - according CPSU Community Services Section
Secretary, Mark Gepp. He discusses the status of Centrelink in 2000 and the
pressures of current federal government ministerial policy on staff and
'clients', particularly in the lead up to the Olympics.

JOY MINING MANUFACTURING
70 Workers at the Joy Mining Manufacturing plant at Moss Vale in NSW are
about to enter their 4th month of being locked out after negotiations over
their expired Enterprise Agreement broke down earlier this year. Worldwide
it's estimated that 2500 workers for subsidiary companies of Joy
Australia's parent company have lost their jobs. Meanwhile, the Moss Vale
workers remain strong but in need of urgent financial support to maintain
their stand. Alan Ward (AMWU State Organiser for NSW) explains. Ring (02)

UNIONISTS AGAINST CORPORATE TYRANNY(UACT)
UACT is a recently formed coalition which aims to educate, inform and
mobilise rank-and-file unionists to fight against exploitation and
oppression by transnational and multinational corporations and the
anti-worker policies of national governments and international agencies
such as the World Bank & the IMF. Melanie Sjoberg explains how these issues
affect our daily lives and workplaces and how all unionists can be involved
in such issues.
