I had already done all those steps ... the problem is that they were never married or even lived together ... yet Legacy "insists" on labeling her ( Johnson ) as "wife / spouse" ... even with the "never married" option checked!
If she hadn't raised the son alone, it might be easier to simply delete / unlink either her or the father from the son ... which goes back to square one, who do I link the boy to? ----- Original Message ----- From: Mary Wilson To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, February 16, 2008 2:35 PM Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] CHILD OF UNMARRIED PERSON Dick, Been there several times. Right click on your cousin’s name and a drop-down menu will appear. Hit “Add ...Wife”. Enter “Johnson” if that is all you know of the mother; date of birth for her could be “after 1955” if you want to take a rough guess. When you hit “Save”, you will be taken to their ‘marriage’ page. This is where you will indicate their status. See on the top left of that page several choices. Check the box that says “This couple never married”. The 21-plus year old son will now fall under both of his birth parents and you can then input any other Johnson info if/when you get it. If your cousin has a wife now, she would be his “preferred” in the family tree. Hope that gets you started, Mary Wilson ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dick Sent: Saturday, February 16, 2008 4:36 PM To: LegacyUserGroup Subject: [LegacyUG] CHILD OF UNMARRIED PERSON I have a ( male ) cousin who had a relationship that resulted in a son being born. As far as I know and / or have been told be his siblings, the couple never married, and the son was raised by the mother. The boy is now over 21. My problem is ... how to enter this person in the family records? I presently have him with his father ( along with the mother ) , and hsve notes that the father and mother never married, and that he was raised by the mother. All that is known of her is her surname JOHNSON ... the father ( cousin ) more or less has been unreachable for many years. Any ( workable ) ideas?
