Peter,

Since you refer to Findmy past, I take it that you are referring to English
Censuses. Not that this makes much difference except that there are specific
Source writer templates for UK censuses. Nor is it clear whether you have a
Census Event or, as I do, only use the censuses as Sources for Residence,
Occupation etc. Events. Again this probably does not make much difference.

You really need to read up on the Souce Clipboard and Event Clipborad in the
Help Files. In Family View, clicking on either the 'paper with a pen' icon,
or on an Individual's panel will take you to the Individual Screen and
clicking the Add button under Events/Facts enables one to enter a new Event.
On the left hand side there is a blue triangle and clicking this takes you
to the Source Clipboard where a new Master Source can be selected or the
Source Detail/Citation can be entered. At the bottom of the screen is a box
which when checked will display this screen for amendment every time you
need it, leave unchecked if you will never change the detail. Having entered
the detail click Save which will return you to the Event.

On the bottom right of this screen there are two little panels the left one
is for copying the Event *together with the Source* to the Event Clipboard
and the right for pasting the Event and Source to a new individual. So, in
the first instance copy the details and then to copy the same Event to a new
Individual, choose Add a new Event as normal, but then paste the saved Event
with its Source.
