Dawn,

Although I do not understand why you would wish to do this - I never throw
away information as one never knows when or by whom it may be required - Ah
the penny has dropped!!! you mean from your file.

You have all your husband's ancestors tagged from the previous excercise.
Simply untag your husband (Family View, click on the appropriate tag number)
and go to Tools>Advanced Deleting and all individuals with the tag you
selected.

*Do remember to back-up first*

Thanks,

Dawn,

You do not say how many generations of his family you have, so I am assuming
several. However, I would go to each of his oldest ancestors, by which I
mean, the oldest from his father's side and mother's through each grand
parent etc. Then use Advanced Tagging - Family View>right click on the
tags - choose a convenient tag number and select Descendants

Having done this for all the descendant trees use File>Export To>Legacy
File.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Split spouse from my tree

Hi all,
I'd like to find the easiest way to split my spouse and his family off of my
tree into a new family file. We do not have kids, and for now, I have no
interest in researching his family. Although I do have some of his family
recorded, I want it in a separate file, so it doesn't interfere with my
name, location or research lists.

Thanks,
Dawn in NJ
