Thanks for the replies. Since my original objective in doing a clean install
was to 'start over', I deleted the C:\Legacy folder. Downloaded and installed
(creating a new Legacy folder) the latest build (109) from Legacy, unlocked
Deluxe with my customer number, and then restored from my backup. Worked great.

Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] Win7 Clean Install left behind C:|Legacy folder

Win7 does NOT do a “clean” install but rather a “custom” install (in addition
to an “upgrade” install). There is a finite difference between what we have
come to call “clean” and what Microsoft is calling “custom”. During the
installation procedure if you had elected to either format the installation
partition or either shrink or expand the partition (if possible) then you would
have gotten rid of the old C:\Legacy folder. For some reason, Microsoft thought
it better to switch to a “custom” install and leave any folders alone that were
already in the root directory of the target drive. The bottom line is that it
makes no difference to most end users. Your installation of Win7 is all new but
it left C:\Legacy all by itself. Maybe Millennia Corp told Microsoft “leave us
alone”!

This happened to me as well when I did a clean install to Win7 x64 from Vista
x64. Not entirely sure why it left the C:\Legacy folder, but it did.

Since I had already backed up everything on a separate drive, I just
reinstalled Legacy normally to its default (C:\Legacy), and it installed
without a hitch. I still had to tell it where my data files were located, but
everything worked perfectly, and all my settings remained intact.

So I'd recommend doing that, after you confirm you have all your Legacy stuff
backed up in case it doesn't go as smoothly for you... :-)

Something just happened that I was not expecting. I did a "clean install" (not
an in-place upgrade) to Windows7 from Vista. A clean install is supposed to
basically wipe out your hard drive and give you a 'clean' system with just
Windows on it, on which you then proceed to reload applications and data.

The install did exactly that, except for the C:\Legacy folder. I expected it to
be be wiped out totally, but it's still there with what looks like the data
files, but the Legacy application is gone. Absolutely no other 'non Windows'
files or folders were retained.

I know this is really more a Windows question than a Legacy question, but has
this happened to anyone else?

Also, since I'm not sure what is there and what isn't, I intend to delete the
C:\Legacy folder before I re-download the application and restore my data from
backups. Does this sound reasonable?
