I was hoping someone might be able to advise on the best way to record data obtained from FreeBMD and from the IGI.
At the moment, when I get BMD info from FreeBMD, I create an event "Birth Registration", "Marriage Resistration" or "Death Registration" with the volume and page numbers in the description, the quarter in the date and the registration district in the location. I then have a single "FreeBMD" source with no detail info, except the date that I recorded the information. I was wondering whether this is the best way, or whether there is a more accepted solution. When I get information from the IGI, the process creates at least one and often several individual sources, all named "International genealogical Index (R)" It would seem more logical to me to have a single IGI source, with all the information from these individual sources going into detail fields. Would this be a more logical approach and, if so, is there any way to achieve it?
