It is probably very logical and correct to create Registration Events,
but I think most people *probably* just use information from FreeBMD as
the data for the Vital Events Birth, Marriage and Death, exchanging it
for more exact information when known. This is certainly what I do.

I might originally enter someone with Born "September Q 1884" in "Wirral
Registration District and include all the information from FreeBMD in
the Source. I then find them in a Census and get a more precise place
of birth as "Oxton, Birkenhead, Cheshire" so I change the place of Birth
to this and add an additional source. Later, I get the Birth
Certificate and get the precise date of birth so I amend the entry to
reflect this.

Sometimes when I get a Certificate I delete the FreeBMD Source because
the Index Information is included in the Certificate Source Citation,
but it is actually useful to see the progression of first finding
information on FreeBMD and later confirming it with a Certificate.

I use the SourceWriter so the template I use for FreeBMD Birth entries
is BirthRecords>Birth Certificate>England>Birth Certificate,
Index>Online database. Similarly for Deaths and Marriages.

I presume you are having the IGI information automatically downloaded
into Legacy. You illustrate one of the reasons why I never allow the
machine to take over completely! I always prefer to manually enter
information copied from online sources and then add the Source Citation
in my own way. I have a single Master Source for IGI records which is
Church Records>LDS Genealogical Compilations>International Genealogical
Index>Online Database.
