[LegacyUG] a Question

I'm really enjoying Legacy 7.4.  What is great is that I can open two files at once and split the screen.  Now, here is my problem. 
A cousin sent me here database which I've entered with a different file name.  I open mine and open her's.  I look at her information and sometimes I want to copy and then paste into my database.  Every time I do this I get the little alert sound with the comment that I can't copy into the same file.  Please tell, what am I doing wrong.
