The Help file topic for "Source Clipboard" states "Or, you can click <graphic of 3-bar button> to have Legacy automatically assign the source to every field on the Information form that is not blank. (This also includes all events in the event list.)"
In the topic ""Citing the Sources of your Information" in the Help file, the "unspecified field" is defined as "This includes an Unspecified source, which applies to the individual as a whole, and specific source assignments that have been made to each event for the individual." Page 71 in the User Guide sort of explains it but uses the term 'field'. My user guide says Events are made up of 7 fields, e.g. Name, Desc, Date etc. So presumably it adds something to all these fields - or are there many meanings to Field? The button below adds to an 'unspecified field'. I don't understand where Legacy would put anything if the field is unspecified. Page 71 says it add it to a 'unspecified category'. So far I've not found what category of field means. This is a case where rather than read round in circles one is tempted to suck it and see but in this case the results could be rather traumatic. I've decided to stay well away from those buttons until the semantics is clear.
