I needed a list of people I had found on the 1911 England & Wales Census, together with the Census references, so I tagged the 1911 Master Source and ran a Source Report for the tagged Source.
Fine. I got what I needed. In most cases a line of the report reads something like: Event: England Census: RG78, 32, RG 14 959, 10, 6, 57, 12 ... However, I have noticed one record where the line reads: Event: England Census: RG78, 34976, 641, 1, 11, 9999 ... In other words, two elements appear to be missing - a number and "RG14" - Series Piece Number and Departmental Code. Checking that person's record, I see that I have filled in the SW template exactly correctly except that there was no Series Piece Number (the second element) or I did not know it. But why was the RG14 (Departmental Code) not included in the Source Report? It does show in the Citation Preview and in the Citation on a Report. It's relatively unimportant in the great scheme of things, I suppose, but mislead me at first because the number I particularly wanted to know was the Dept Code Piece Number and at first I presumed this was missing, reading 34976 as the Series Piece Number as it followed directly on the Series Code. It does make one wonder, also, if other information is missing from Source Reports. -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
