I've just looked at someone in my database about whom I knew nothing,
only that her husband married her in Southampton Registration District
in March 1878. The page you mention shows her as

Unknown Unknown {P6.3003}
b. <1857> <Southampton Registration District>
d. <1928> <Southampton Registration District>

The birthdate is 21 years before the known marriage date. The death
date is 71 years after the suggested birthdate. I imagine those figures
of 21 and 71 are considered to be the average for age at marriage and
lifespan. The place of birth and death is obviously taken from the
place of Marriage.

I would suggest that you have Mary Ryan marrying in Ireland, or some
member(s) of her family having a vital event in Ireland.
