I keep all my email correspondence from cousins, near and far, and print it out as pdf's. If it's source material (it isn't always) I attach it as a source and put the relevant passage in the Source Detail Text and the page number of the pdf. Some of these pdf's ramble on forever.
If you've been using the information given to you but not sourcing it and not keeping their emails then yes, it would be a problem.
